The Problem

If you were in the hospital tonight…

Would your family know where your medication list is?
Who your doctors are?
How the mortgage gets paid?
Where your healthcare directive is?

Most families can't answer these — not because they don't care, but because nobody ever wrote it down. Everybody talks about the woman who found the $50,000 painting at a yard sale for $2. Nobody talks about the family that sold it. Preparedness is how much you spare the people you love.

The Complete In Case of Emergency Binder

67 pages — because nobody needs a 300-page homework assignment during an emergency. Every page is curated by a real attorney around what families actually need and most often get wrong.

  • 15 sections: emergency pages, medical, insurance, accounts, home & property, digital life, legal document locator, children, pets, family favorites, final wishes & letters, and the master index.
  • Attorney Tips throughout — the outdated beneficiary form, the locked safe, the password lost forever. Decades of "I wish someone had told them," built in.
  • Fillable + printable: type on any computer or print and write by hand. Built for 15-minute sessions.

Why an Attorney Built This

Twenty-five years of watching families search.

"The families who struggle least aren't the wealthiest. They're the most prepared."
— Launi Sheldon, Esq. • Founder, The Lasting Codex

After more than 25 years as a family law attorney — including years as a judge pro tem and mediator — one lesson kept repeating: grief is heavy enough without a search party. The missed life insurance policy. The safe nobody could open. The recipe nobody wrote down. The Lasting Codex exists so the people you love can grieve, not search.

Attorney-designed. Not attorney-client services. Our products share the benefit of decades of professional experience — they are not legal advice, and purchasing them does not provide access to the attorney who designed them.

Questions

Fair questions, straight answers

What if I don't have time to complete 67 pages?

Start with the 10-Minute Version — ten lines, ten minutes, and your family is no longer starting from zero. The binder is designed for 15-minute sessions, includes a completion checklist, and skipping sections that don't apply is encouraged. It's a menu, not a test.

Is The Lasting Codex a law firm?

No. We're an education company. Our products are organizational and educational tools designed by an attorney — we do not provide legal services, legal advice, or legal representation, and purchasing a product does not create an attorney-client relationship.

Does the binder replace a will, trust, or power of attorney?

No. The binder is an organizer and locator — it helps you record where your documents are and understand, in plain English, what each one does. It doesn't create any legal document. If you discover you're missing one, that discovery alone is worth it: take it to a licensed attorney in your state.

Should I put passwords or account numbers in the binder?

We recommend not. The binder repeatedly offers a safer pattern: record where something is kept, not the thing itself. And a completed binder should be stored like the sensitive document it is — locked drawer, safe, or encrypted file.

Can my organization buy copies in bulk, or add our logo?

Yes — attorneys, financial advisors, employers, and organizations can license copies in volume, and co-branded editions are available ("Created by The Lasting Codex | Provided to you by your firm"). Bulk & partner details are coming to this page; for now, reach us through the contact form below.

Is my information stored by The Lasting Codex?

No. Everything you type stays in your own PDF on your own device. We never see, store, or transmit what you write in your binder — which is exactly how a document this personal should work.
